Wild-Caught Alaskan Cod: My Favorite ALDI Find this week!

Wild-Caught Alaskan Cod: My Favorite ALDI Find this week!

What’s your favorite ALDI Find this week? This week I actually ventured out of the Amazing Aisle of Randomness into the freezer section, because the clear choice here has to be this big bag of frozen wild-caught Alaskan cod. Two whole pounds for $8.99, and the fillets are even individually wrapped!

Need a recipe idea for your ALDI Alaskan Wild-Caught Cod?

If you’re not sure what to make with your cod this week, never fear, I have you covered. For starters: Try this easy Almond Parmesan Crusted Low Carb Cod with garlicky spinach. (This low carb cod recipe is also gluten free, and perfect for keto diets in this New Year.)

Almonds not to your taste? You might check out these spice rubbed fish tacos (substitute cod for tilapia here) or crunchy homemade fish tenders, instead.

One wish about this fish

If I could have one wish about ALDI fish, it would be this: Although this cod is wild caught in the U.S., it’s still processed in China — as is most frozen fish at ALDI (and, well… at most stores). I’d be willing to pay a little more for fish that’s also processed in the U.S.

What’s up with ALDI Finds?

ALDI Finds are limited time special buy items that are available in stores only while supplies last. So if you spot something you like, be sure to grab it while you can! Who else picked up Alaskan wild caught cod this week? If not, what caught your eye in the Aisle of Random?

  • Hi Rachel, I was wishing the same about the fish. We live in the South and I am not even getting to see our fish or veggies very often. I think they do have Key West Shrimp at my Aldi’s but that was about it.
