My new colorful Crofton tea kettle — And what did YOU find on ALDI Clearance lately?!
Hey! I’m so lucky, lol. My tea kettle rusted out a while ago, and since then I’ve been using my microwave to heat up a mug of water whenever I want tea. This is, of course, less than optimal.
When these cheerful Crofton tea kettles showed up in ALDI ads last month, I thought about picking one up to add a pop of color to my kitchen — but was pretty iffy on the original $19.99 price, and then they sold out at my normal store in about a week. Well, guess what I spotted for $9.99 on clearance yesterday? Oh yes! I popped into a different ALDI and saw three red tea kettles on clearance in their Special Buys aisle, but decided to pass on the plain old red. But then, a little further down the aisle, someone had shoved one last lonely floral Crofton tea kettle in the wrong place behind some gardening items. So, guess what had to come home with me at half price?
A little Crofton tea kettle review
Please ignore the cleaning that really needs to happen with the toaster oven over there, and focus only on the tea kettle: Isn’t it pretty in its natural habitat? Here’s my little mini-review of the ALDI Crofton tea kettle — which scares the heck out of all three cats when it starts whistling, by the way! 🙂
Does heating water for tea in a kettle really result in a better brew?
In my totally non-scientific opinion: Yes. Yes, it does. I’m sipping on a soothing cup of chamomile right now, and really realizing the difference between this kettle-brewed tea and the microwave tea I’ve been making do with for way too long.
Does the handle on this ALDI tea kettle get hot?
Yes. Yes, it does. Not hot enough that you’re going to burn yourself instantly, but hot enough that you’ll want to use a towel or oven mitt when pouring. I wish they’d put a little more effort into that, because it’s also the least decorative part of this tea kettle.
Is this a sturdy tea kettle?
ALDI’s Crofton tea kettle isn’t particularly sturdy. It does the job, but it’s light, and we’ll see how long it lasts. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay $19.99 for it. But at $9.99 it seems like a good buy for the decorative value alone — plus, for however many years I’ll get that better cup of tea out of it.
Is it as pretty in person as it looked in the ad?
I think so! It’s quite cute.
