My Favorite ALDI Finds this week — From Grass Fed Ground Beef to a Pineapple Slicer!

My Favorite ALDI Finds this week — From Grass Fed Ground Beef to a Pineapple Slicer!

Here are a few of my favorite ALDI Finds from the new week’s ad starting either 5/12/19 or 5/15/19 (although, even in Sunday markets, some of the new Finds don’t release until Wednesday). This week, they’re selling 6″ veggies or herbs (not available in all locations) for $2.89. Last year I picked up tomato and jalapeño plants there, maybe basil? I’m trying to remember, exactly, but do know that they all took nicely. So, that’s kind of handy if you want to pick up a couple of common herb or veggie plants at a decent price while you do the rest of your grocery shopping.

More ALDI non-food finds this week

As we continue down the garden (& patio) path: They’re again selling hanging baskets in many locations for $6.49, which is, alas, up from the $5.99 they used to cost. The last batch didn’t look great at my store, so I’m hoping this round looks a little better. Since Memorial Day is fast approaching, you’ll also find grilling items for your patio ranging from three packs of multipurpose lighters or Range Master grill toppers at $4.99 each, to a Range Master 2 burner gas grill for $99.99, to a Gardenline grill gazebo for $69.99.

If you’re instead going the charcoal grill route, you can get 15.4 lb briquettes for $4.89, or a charcoal starter for just $12.99. Be sure to check your Amazing ALDI Aisle of Randomness for more Memorial Day BBQ fun, from a bluetooth speaker, to citronella candles, to food covers, to a bean bag toss.

Some great baby item buys in this week’s ad too! Among other things, look for a Little Journey Pop-Up Playpen for $59.99, a Hauck stroller at just $49.99, and a really nice Hauck baby gate with one-hand unlock door for $19.99.

For older kids: Children’s bike helmets for $12.99, plus several other biking items in this week’s ad.

A Crofton Pineapple Slicer, and more kitchen gadgets

Pineapple fans, rejoice! You’ll find a Crofton pineapple slicer in this week’s ad for $4.99. These things are so handy. (Mine is actually from Amazon at about the same price, so don’t despair if you miss the sale.) They’re also selling a strawberry huller, cherry pitter, or corn shaver for $3.99.

All of these are really an excuse to revisit one of my favorite YouTube videos from a few years back — Alton Brown reviewing some of Amazon’s “dumbest single use items.”

Alton aside, though, the pineapple slicer is well worth the investment. 🙂 You know what else is worth the investment, speaking of single use kitchen gadgets? If you haven’t ever read through the Hutzler banana slicer reviews on Amazon, do yourself a favor: Pour a fresh cup of coffee, and leisurely page on through a few of them today.

But let’s get back on track now, shall we? Moving on…

ALDI Food Finds this week

Look for family packs of 85/15 organic grass fed ground beef in many locations at $4.49/lb (sold in a 4 lb pack for $17.96). This is an excellent price, and a good week to make a big batch of chipotle taco soup, I’m thinking.

If you’re not feeling the soup, you can elevate that grass fed ground beef further by making fancy burgers on brioche buns — which continue to be on sale at $1.99. Or, look for 48 oz Kirkwood frozen turkey burgers for $5.99 (just $2.00 a pound!), and throw those onto your new grill. Under your fancy gazebo. 😉

And since we’re all about flavorful recipes around ALDI sales here, also look for boneless skinless chicken breast, zucchini, and mushrooms to be on sale in many regions — throw those all together to create these super savory zucchini Spanish rice burrito bowls.

Other food finds: Utz pub mix barrels are back, at $5.29. A huge 44 oz bag of Southern Grove sweet & salty blend trail mix is just $6.89 — and it looks suspiciously similar to Amazon’s Happy Belly brand! And hey, Churros fans: Clancy’s cinnamon churros are back at the same $.99 price as last time — And people compare them favorably to Taco Bell’s.
