ALDI Finds: German Week, Easter, and Panic Buying

First off, news you can use: ALDI announced today 3/16 that: “ALDI stores across the country will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily starting today. Some stores may have limited hours to accommodate restocking and cleaning.”
- Here’s ALDI’s page for their latest updates, if you want to bookmark that for later.
I ventured out to my own ALDI today (armed with hand sanitizer and wipes…), to see what I could see. My local store was wiped out of most meat, bread, milk, eggs, canned goods, pasta, and more — how’s yours looking?
It’s clearly not a typical week for either Finds or regular grocery shopping. But, if you also are heading out to try to restock, my ALDI actually already had some of the new week’s Finds on the shelves.
So, to try preserve at least some sense of normalcy in our topsy-turvy world, I’ll still tell you about some of my favorite Finds of the week. And, to preserve some sense of remaining informed, we’ll also talk about what else is going on at ALDI right now.
Look out for each other in turbulent times
I’ll write a little bit more about this later, since I’m still mulling over my own thoughts. But, I do hope that we’re all continuing to support each other in these times of turbulence. I’m glad to have been able to share staples like disinfecting wipes and toilet paper with friends in need this week, and that we’ve been looking out for each other when we do venture out to the store. (My ALDI was completely wiped out of milk today, for instance, but I found gluten free mac & cheese there for a friend — who found milk for me at a different local grocery store.)
This also makes me think of a little post I wrote a couple years back: All I Really Need to Know I Learned in ALDI. Let’s all continue to look out for one another.
Back to this week’s ALDI Finds
Here are a few of my favorite ALDI Finds and sale items from the new week’s ad, starting either 3/15/20 or 3/18/20. (Note: Even in Sunday markets, many of the new non-food Finds don’t release until Wednesday.) These are filled out with a few new non-advertised Finds that I’ve spotted at my own store recently.
Note: Your ALDI may not be receiving or shelving out all of their Finds this week, or may instead be concentrating their efforts on restocking food staples as quickly as possible.

I spotted a bunch of German Week finds on the shelf at ALDI today. A few favorites:
- Deutsche Küche pork schnitzel, $8.99

- Deutsche Küche fruity strudel, $2.49

- Deutsche Küche German style red cabbage with apples

- Deutsche Küche European mustard, $1.69
Plus, more German Week Finds throughout the store.
Tip: If your store is cleared out of its regular buy items in canned soups and dry pasta, also check the Finds aisle for spaetzle and Deutsche Küche soups!
If you are home with the kids for the next couple of weeks or more, you can sweeten your social distancing a bit with some of the Easter candy on sale this week at ALDI. Find everything from Easter PEZ ($1.49) to Specially Selected chocolate truffle eggs ($3.29) to Lunch Buddies spring fruit flavored snacks ($3.99), and more.
Or, you know: German luxury cake for you ($6.99 each, in the freezer section).
I’m also happy to see pot stickers back in this week’s ad, at $3.99 for 16 oz. If your store gets these in, you can try this shortcut wonton soup recipe — SO good, and so easy. Other frozen Finds in this week’s ad include 2 lbs Fremont Fish Market Alaskan pollock ($5.49), Kirkwood 56 oz panko chicken tenders ($9.99), and Fremont Fish Market shrimp scampi or lemon pepper shrimp ($5.89).
ALDI non-Food Finds this week
You might spot some pretty spring kitchen-related Finds at ALDI this week. I actually picked up a pretty floral teakettle on clearance at ALDI last year, which still adds a pop of color to my stove top and is holding up nicely. The patterns differ this year, but look for:
- Crofton 2.3 quart teakettle, $16.99
- Crofton 4 quart casserole, $16.99
- Crofton 12 quart porcelain enamel stockpot, $19.99
- Crofton mini casserole set, $9.99
To further brighten up your kitchen: Huntington home three piece apron sets ($4.99), oversized drying mats or two pack kitchen towels ($3.99), kitchen rugs ($5.99), or cotton tablecloths ($9.99). Lastly, SOHL industrial stools are $29.99, while Crofton kitchen tools ($3.99) or ceramic knife & peeler sets ($6.99) round everything out.
Speaking of ALDI Finds already in Rachel’s house from years gone by, I’d picked up several of these Easy Home padded vinyl folding chairs when my family visited for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. As folding chairs go, they’re nice and cushy — and $14.99 each in this week’s ad. To go along with, an Easy Home 5′ folding table would run you $34.99.
Let’s round things out with a hodge-podge of the last of my favorite non-food Finds this week:
- Lily & Dan children’s rain boots or spring jackets, $9.99 each
- Workzone 4 step aluminum ladder, $44.99
- Workzone 3’x4′ diamond soft foam mat, $14.99 (2’x3′, $6.99)
- Workzone rechargeable LED work light, $19.99
- Huntington Home reversible chair pad, $7.99
- Serra Ladies’ jeggings, $9.99
Some areas might also have Gardenline rose bushes, bulbs, and hanging baskets this week, depending on weather and region.
